2001 VW Jetta Warning Lights?

Hi, my warning light came on, and it looks like a valve with a lightning bolt through it, and underneath in yellow is the word "check". Can anyone tell me what it is? I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8L with about 120,000 miles on it.
