I was going under an overpass one day on my way to New York (I was still in NJ because I didn't pass the Lincoln Tunnel yet). And what I though at the time was mud hit and splashed the side of the car, the front and back windshield, as well as the front bumper and the back on the side of the truck. Their were men on the overpass so I didn't put two in two together that it might be wet cement. A couple day late, I wash my car and the gray stuff that was all over it would not come off. I washed my car three times and it still would not come off. So I went to my kitchen and got a Scotch-Brite 3M Non-Scratch Scrub Sponges( I looked it up because I could remember the name of it). Anyway, I went to scrub the cement off of my car and it would not come off. I started to use my nails and scratch the cement and it started to come off a little bit, so I wet the sponge and used the back side, the green side, and it came off. I started at the front on the hood, and did the front windshield and that came off too. It took about ten minutes to just the three spots on the hood and the windshield. They weren't big spots, but it was hard to come off. The spots I would say were the size of the quarter or probably a little bit bigger. I took a break and when I came back I started on the couple of the spot on the back, side near the back side window. It took some scrubbing but two of the spots finally came off. When I checked the front and then the back the car, I noticed that the spot was scudded up and scratched and the car was discolored where I scrubbed it. I was pissed off. Not only will the cement not come off, but now on the few spots that I tried to get the stuff off it is discolored and scratched. After that, I gave up. There are still spots all over my car, window and front bumper. I don't think that I should just eat this. If I decided to sell my car the value will probably go down because of these scratches. Not that my car is new or anything, but it was in good shape before this incident. My car is a gray 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS.

1999.5 Jetta won't start?

A few weeks ago I bought a 1999.5 Jetta, usually the first time I go to start it up it starts, but if I turn it off and turn the key over again it won't start, and it does that for about 5-10 attempts, then I wait and it starts, also it doesn't sound like the engine is having trouble starting up, the engine doesn't even make any noise... It just does nothing, also the check engine light and battery light comes on

2001(or something like that) Volkwagen Jetta 2.0. I read on all data after you lock cam at TDC turn crank 45 degrees? How are they lined up at all after that and what's the reason, I understand turning cam 1/2 notch when its a dual cam to release tension of the belt, but this makes no sense to me. The system has detected a malfunction somewhere in the emissions system. The most common sensor to fail is the O2 sensor. It's on the exhaust system. But there is no way to tell if that is the case. You need your cars computer scanned for the error code. Many auto stores will do that for free like Auto Zone. A bad sensor can reduce your fuel economy and make the engine run a bit rough. Camry or Accord, stay away from the civic or corolla they are made with cheaper parts and dont have the depenability that you will get with a full size car like the Camry or Accord or other car like that. I used to have a Civic that I bought brand new and after 5 years it was falling apart, and I dont drive cars hard or race them. You will lose a couple of gallons a mile but you should be able to get 28 to thirty for normal driving in one of those cars. I have an Accord with the 4 cyclinder and I average 32 mpg.

2000 VW Jetta making a drumming sound from front of car.?

I have a 200 VW Jetta automatic, that makes a drumming sound that comes from the front of the car after I drive it for about 10-15 min. It only does this at speeds over 45 mph and only does it while pushing on the gas. If I let up on the gas the sound stops but will start up again once I accelerate. Any ideas to what this may be?

My 2003 VW Jetta sometimes makes a chiming sound once I'm driving. What does this mean?

It's sometimes 2 chimes, sometimes 3 chimes. It usually happens a minute or two after I start driving, but sometimes it will happen after I've been driving for a while. When I hear the chimes, the radio/cd player usually dims in sound, if it's on, then goes back to normal after chimes are done. It says nothing about this in my manual, and it's driving me crazy trying to figure it out! Someone please help!!

No, it will not fit. No exceptions. The only V6 engine that fits in the B5 and B5.5, is the 2.8 V6 AHA Audi/VW engine. The VR6 is transverse mounted, the 2.8 V6 is longitudinally mounted. The Passat's transmission will not mate with the VR6, and the electrical and OBD II is totally different.

If I buy a car that use to run good but was parked for 2 years, what problems should I expect?

This is an 2004 jetta BBW motor, 1 BANK, 2 pre cat o2 sensors, and one inside the cat. Why are there 2 pre cat o2 sensors? What is really the point of having the second one pre cat if there is just one bank? Is this just a cali emission thing? And im guessing the one inside the cat is just like the post o2 sensor? I know the optimal reading for a post cat o2 sensor is steady ~.45, but what if its constantly at .2 and lower, because i was looking at this one car with a p0420 car today and the 2 pre cat o2 sensors were oscillating nicely but the post one, or the one in this case inside the cat was oscillating slowly at .03 to .15. It looks like a bad post cat sensor because a lean cat makes no sense to me(unless there was a leak which there wasnt) when the pre o2 sensors are reading good and car performs as it should. Correct me if im wrong please.

What activates the rear outboard lightbulbs in a 2000 VW Jetta bulb assembly?

I was replacing a blown brake light in my 2000 VW Jetta and noticed during testing that the lower outboard bulbs in the assembly do not activate regardless of what things I tried (backup light, turn signal, head/tail lights on, hazard lights on, etc). I even noticed that on the right side of the car the lower outboard bulb was missing. I'd like to know the purpose of the outboard bulbs so I can either activate the circuit by turning on the correct switch or check the correct fuse. I know that the inboard bulbs (on the bottom) are the backup lights.

Just test drove this car. On the surface it didn't seem too underpowered, but there are a lot of reviews saying the car is "severely" or "horribly" underpowered with the 115 hp engine. My car's door key hole doesnt work?

I have a 97 Jetta, it's got power doors but recently the driver's door stopped working... From the inside of the car I am able to lock and unlock all doors including the driver's door just by pressing the lock/unlock switch... I know it's not the motor to the door because if it were, it wouldn't work at all. The problem that I have is that I'm not able to open the door from the outside with the key. I have to use the passenger side door to unlock the doors.. If you own a Jetta you will know that to unlock all doors you have to turn the key towards the front side of the car twice. If I unlock the doors with the key from the outside from the passenger side it will open the dirvers door.. For some reason the drivers side key hole wont work. It just all of a sudden stopped working one night... I also know that no one stuck anyting into it because the key goes in freely and turns without a problem. Before it stopped working when I would insert the key and turn it, it was have some resistance to it, (felt like it was actually doing something) and now that its not worknig I dont feel any resistance when I turn it (feels like its not turning anything). When I close the door I dont hear that there is any loose objects in the door either. I dont know maybe there is something at the key hole that broke or a small motor that turns the larger motor? I really dont know much about this.

Why is my car's AC not working?

I have a 97 Jetta and my AC has not worked since I bought it a year back. I some what know how cars work, I'm an expert when it comes to brakes, suspension, minor engine tune ups such as oil chances, spark plug replacement and intake problems but I know nothing about AC systems just the main parts of them but much less about what could be wrong with mine. Im pretty sure that my system has freeon in it because a pressure guage was hooked up and it read full, Im also pretty sure that my compressor is still working because when i turn on the AC the compressor kicks on and i can feel the engine bog down as all cars do when it kicks on. I know there is an accumulator and condenser and maybe a few other parts but what could be the problem. Im so close to just taking it in to get it checked out be l have my own tools and know very well how to use them. Does anyone have any ideas to keep me out of the heat? First poster is spot-on. As for the airbag light, find a repair place NOT PEP BOYS, in fact, please do not go there again for any work on your Jetta, other than an oil change. Find a repair place that does work on German cars. If you can find one that does VW/Audi specifically, that is even better. Call them up, and ask them if they have a VAG-COM. If they do, bring the Jetta down there, and tell them you want the airbag light scanned. From there, it could be a loose connection, or (hopefully not), a broken connection. The scan will tell them where to go.

Wheel came off and rotor landed on the cement as I was driving the other day. Noticed a noise after replacing.?

So apparently it seems that the bolts weren't tight enough on one of my wheels. I was going about 30-35 mph when the whole thing suddenly came off and landed on the disc/rotor. Still shocked, I noticed that the gear lever (while still in drive) seemed to be stuttering. Anyways, I shut the car off, mounted the spare and took it home. After taking a look, it seemed that the disc and rotor got slightly bent. Also two of the lug nut holes had a good beating and opened up a bit. So I went to the junk yard and had the whole unit replaced. Now, everything seems perfectly normal.. except now I'm noticing a weird humming/almost like a tin can scraping noise happening when I'm driving slow. Almost seems that it happens when its about to change gears (especially at around 2,000-2100 rpm). So now I'm worried that something had happened to the tranny. My uncle, who's a mechanic, says that its probably the differential and that I should be fine. But I just want to see what anyone else thinks. By the way, I drive a '96 Automatic VW Jetta.

Are 2002 Jettas prone to transmission problems?

Just to supplement djaca's answer, the 1999.5-2005 Jettas are actually Mark 4 (IV) generation. Besides removing the relay and easier way to disable the daytime running lights on this model is to remove the headlight switch (by pushing the knob "in" and turning it clockwise half a turn, then pulling it out) and putting a small piece of electrical tape over or bending out of the way the pin labeled "TFL" in the harness plug. I prefer the electrical tape method since it's a non-permanent modification, but whenever you remove the switch in the future you will most likely have to replace that piece of tape as well. On MK5 and MK6 VWs you can disable the daytime running lights by accessing the Central Convenience module using a VAG-COM or VCDS cable and computer. Google "Vag-Com locator" for a website that can pair you with a local owner to help out.

2003 VW jetta stereo and a/c not working?

After market stereo installed about a year ago, the person who installed it said they had to disconnected the handbrake/sensor to hook it up. Everything was fine until it was sent in to have the rear brakes done. The mechanic said they reconnected the handbrake/sensor while repairing the rest. Ever since then both the stereo and A/C have not worked. The fan still comes on with the a/c but the air is hot. Yesterday, I pulled the handbrake up while the a/c fan was on and and suddenly cold air was coming out. It worked for the next 6 hours or so, the car was turned on and off a number of times during this. But this morning when I turned it on, nothing but hot air. I tried the handbrake again but nothing. Stereo wouldn't turn on during any of this time. Should the handbrake/sensor be disconnected again? I took it in and had the a/c recharged and filled etc but that did nothing. Any and all ideas and suggestions would be great. Thanks!

We are adopting a dalmation, Malachi we named him. And we went dow. Their to sort everything out and to take him home, and when we went to get him, he was cuddled up with another dalmation. Its a 2001 jetta 4cyl automatic, its fully loaded and strictly maintaned, it is in the best condition I've ever seen as far as body and interior go. Leather, heated seats. 96 VW Jetta trunk release button doesn't work. It wont even budge. How do I fix it?

I have a 96 Vw jetta, the lock on the outside quit working yesterday, other than crawling through my back seat, I can't get in my trunk. The trunk release button doesn't work, never has. I try and push it and the button has no play in it at all. I'd rather fix the inside button. I don't want to mess with the outside button at all unless its free to fix. Rpm's on my manual transmission 2000 Jetta dip when clutch is engaged.?

Here's some more details. Whenever I put the clutch in, or when i start the car, and the transmission is going down from higher to right around idle, they dip too low and then shoot back up to where they're suppose to be when the engine is idling. When that happens the engine acts as if its going to die for a second until the rpms kick back up. I don't really know what to look for or anything I could do to help this, so any suggestions will help!

Julian may been seen as too girlish, as well as jaymi. i know a boy named julian, and while he is actually quite popular and good looking, he was teased in primary school for this. Jaymi seems more like a feemale spelling as y is usually associated with female names. Rylan is beautiful, its not too out there, but it is also unique. Malachi is also gorgeous, but it may cause the child some grief and he would have to be confident to wear such a name. I know people with such striking names like that, and they only suit it because they are able to pull it off and wear it with prife.

The dealership won't take blame for the window first of all. And it sounds like your window my just be sticking. You could always lube the track and hope it doesn't happen again. My window in my truck has done that since i bought it in 2003 and still does it now and then. I spray the track with grease and it works great for another couple years.

Get Borderlands game of the year edition, comes with addons, its a shooter/rpg, hours of game play, lots of main quests and side quests and you can drive in the game, tons of weapons, its open world/free roam, you can play single player or multiplayer...its awesome thats what i'm playing right now, I play it on pc and got it from amazon. Im extremely pissed off I just purchased a brand new 2011 VW Jetta with my current mileage not even exceeding 1000. My girlfriend called me hysterically today and she told me that on her way to work the steering wheel locked while she was driving, as if that wasn't enough it just happened to occur as she was going approx 40mph entering the apex of a turn which thankfully had a wide emergency lane, so she managed to stop the car unharmed. I tried my best to calm her down and figure out what was wrong with the car. I assumed the power steering belt might have slipped or maybe she went through a deep puddle and lost power steering temporarily. That wasn't the case, in fact the cars accelerator also malfunction at the same time and it completely seized responding despite her frantic attempts to pump the gas pedal, she told me that she brought the car to a complete stop, turned the car off then back on and the steering and accelerator worked fine... I don't know why the hell this happened but i was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same malfunctions or know of any recalls, Id really appreciate it... oh and by the way DON'T BUY A NEW JETTA FOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND

I have a 2002 jetta 4cyl 1.8t with 90A alternator and i want to run a 750.1 kicker amp with 2 cvr 12"?

I bought a floor model amp from best buy and when i turn my subs up pretty loud my protection light on my amp either flips totally on and shuts my subs off completely or it will flicker and take some hits out and come back on instantly. I also had a weird occasion where i turned my car off and went in my house for about 30 minuets came back outside used my keys to pop the hood and the amp turned on without my car started or keys even in the ignition and the subs flexed for about 3 seconds and now its turning on and off... also one more effect im having is whenever i turn my car off my amp will not turn off and it flickers back and fourth between the protection light and the red ring around the ZX which means i have power. all the wiring and mounts and everything is fine so it is not that.. I'm thinking it is either my alternator or my amp.. my amp is the 750.1 kicker amp it has 2 40a fuses. and my alternator is 90a should my alternator be causing defects like this? or is it my amp that i need to buy and replace?

So lately I've been getting yelled at just abou every day by my parents. They yell at me for every little thing. I ask another person what to do next and he says to turn it in. So i do. She checks It (the teacher.) and says it's wrong. Then Half a second later she asks for my agenda I give it to her and she stars writing "malachi was not paying attention and even though the directions were right In front of him he was still clue less I tried to help but he didn't listen." there were no directions nor did she help me. All this In turn made my mother furious she signed the lies and grounded me. Every day my mom finds some way to yell at me like today she came home and asked me to help so I said one sec im playing my game. It does not sound to me like the quote from Malachi says anything about spiritual healing....just healing. Granted, I do think that it refers to physical healing given the rest of the passage but I also think they both represent the healing of spirit and body that is available to us from Jesus.

Could be the thermostat... but my money is on the water pump. The plastic impellers on these pumps are notorious for breaking. I'd have them replace the thermostat as well. Sometimes when you run the car really hot the thermostat breaks too.

If we took everything from the bible literally we'd go mad trying to obey all the rules. I am a very devout Christian but I do not go to church, nor do I read the bible. In my (perhaps misguided) belief, Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and this made the first testament obsolete. For every command in the bible there is an opposing one. Remember, the bible was written by man. And I don't trust man as far as I can throw one. I used to go to church, but it's run by man and I was so scared of the God they talked about. He wasn't my God. I used to go to bible study but I was thrown out for asking too many questions. The bible is very symbolic. Did God create the world in seven days? I don't believe so. I believe he created it over millions of years and created it using the big bang. The bible was written thousands of years ago and they didn't have the knowledge we do now. VW Jetta Air Conditioner Question???? PLZ Help!?

I have a 2007 Jetta 2.5 liter auto. Other than the 2.5 engine, it is just a base model. I have always had problems with the air conditioner in this car so I don't know what is considered normal as far as like a factory standard. Anyway, I recently had the A/C system rebuilt, by the dealer, covered under an extended warranty. I feel like even after the rebuild, the A/C is not working properly because the car does not cool down as much as other cars do. However, I have a black car in Arizona where the high today was 110 degrees. After thirty minutes of driving and my A/C being on full blast, I would estimate a cabin temperature of about 80 degrees or more. Is this normal? I have tried cracking the windows while parked, sun shades, parking in the shade, recirculating air button, etc. Plz help? Ty!

2002 jetta is overheating when i turn on the AC or when it idle's?

The other day i was sitting at a red light waiting to turn. I looked down at my temperature gage and it was rising. I pulled into the gas station and let my car sit for about 20 minutes. As soon as i got back on the road the temperature went down to 190. It seems to only overheat when im idling, ac is on. When im driving between 35-45 mph the temperature is fine. Also i had a friend check my fans. I turned my car on and neither fans turned on, also turned my AC on and neither fans kicked on either. Please help thanks!
