I have a 2003 VW Jetta and the 12V plug/socket doesn't work anymore.?

I dropped a safety pin in there by accident and the spark happened and it hasn't worked since. I'm not sure where to go to check if it's working or maybe a fuse? I'm not at all car savvy and would really like some help please! :)
