Does the 2008 volkswagen jetta need premium fuel?

we got this car used, and have put about a thousand miles on it since then. we've been using regular gas this whole time, but did we need to be using premium fuel? it's not the wolfsburg edition, it's the 2.5L I5 170hp with manual transmission.
