My 03 Jetta is overheating even though the antifreeze container is full?

Could be the thermostat... but my money is on the water pump. The plastic impellers on these pumps are notorious for breaking. I'd have them replace the thermostat as well. Sometimes when you run the car really hot the thermostat breaks too.
