Volkswagens..good cars?

I'm looking for a car and came across Volkswagen. I don't know that much about them and need help! What are the pros and cons? Is it expensive maintenance? Do you have to use special oil? I need all information whether it be good or bad! I'm interested in purchasing the 2011 Jetta. Thanks!!
